Peppermint Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe
The minty sweet aroma of this quick homemade sugar scrub is so enticing. It reminds me of cookie dough, cocktails, and summer nights all in one.
This is also a perfect recipe for smoothing, exfoliating, and moisturizing the legs and feet for summer, so you can feel you best while enjoying wearing skirts, shorts, swimsuits, and sandals.
It’s a simple recipe that can be whipped up in a breeze with a base of brown sugar, white sugar, and avocado oil.
Sugar is great for glowing skin! While eating a lot of sugar is not great for the skin, it’s awesome to use in body care recipes for it gently removes dead skin cells and leaves the skin fresh, soft, and glowing.
I love using avocado oil in my sugar scrub recipes because it’s great for skin care. Avocado oil has vitamin E, D, and many nutrients in it that are protective and soothing to the skin, reduce aging, ease sunburns, and calm inflammation. It also has a mild scent that does not overpower the recipe like olive oil or coconut oil will. It leaves the skin moisturized and soft, but also absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving it feeling oily.
Plus, I add in peppermint essential oil, which is ideal for summer because of its cooling properties.
It’s also important in the summer time to avoid using citrus essential oils in body care recipes because they are photosensitive and can cause reactions if you go out in the sun after using them. Thus, peppermint oil is a great alternative to orange, lemon, or bergamot oil in the summer, (though I often use citrus oils my sugar scrubs during the colder seasons for their bright cheery scent and skin benefits).
That would be a wonderful recipe on its own, but with the addition of a little vanilla extract it becomes so delicious smelling, you’ll want to jump in the shower right away.
Peppermint Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. avocado oil
30 drops peppermint essential oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Mix all ingredients together and store in a glass container.
Scoop out a small portion (about 1 Tbs to 1/4 c., depending on how much you want to use) to bring into the shower or tub with you in a non-breakable cup or bowl.
Scrub onto wet legs, feet, arms, elbows, and body to exfoliate, and wash off well with warm water.
This is a great way to turn your bathing time into a home spa experience!
Enjoy!
